Even though the restrictions have been eased further we must continue to treat water as a scarce resource and do everything we can do to use it wisely.
The following link will take you to the Melbourne Water website which has the most information you can possibly find about our water levels.
The graph below showing Melbourne changing water levels is arguably the most recognisable graph in Melbourne.

Melbourne`s Water Restrictions
Below is a direct extract from the Our Water website as at August 31st 2010.
In this section
The following provides a summary of key Stage 2 water restrictions. Contact your local water corporation for further information on water restrictions that may be in place in your area.
Residential and Commercial Gardens and Lawns
Manual watering systems can only be used between the hours of 6:00 am and 8:00 am and between the hours of 8:00 pm and 10:00 pm on on your specified watering days*.
Automatic watering systems can only be used between midnight and 4:00am on on your specified watering days.
Your specified watering days means odd numbered houses can water on odd dates of the month and even or no-numbered houses can water on even numbered dates. Both odd and even numbered houses can water on the 31st of the month.
Hand-held hoses with a trigger nozzle, a bucket or watering can may be used to water gardens at any time.
Lawns cannot be watered at any time with drinking water.
Sporting Grounds
Councils and schools can water sportsgrounds in accordance with the Drought Response Plan or submit a Water Conservation Plan to efficiently water 100 per cent of grounds. Special allowances are made to exempt playing surfaces which include: turf cricket wickets, golf tees and greens (not fairways), tennis courts, bowling greens, hockey pitches running tracks and croquet greens.
Council public gardens can also enjoy this increase in watering times or can water under an approved Water Conservation Plan.
Paving, concrete and other hard surfaces
Hosing is banned except for construction purposes or in emergency, or for health or safety hazard.
Vehicles
Vehicles can be washed at home using a high pressure cleaning device or a bucket; or at a water efficient commercial car wash.
Residential or Commercial Pools and Spas
New or existing pools or spas with a capacity 2,000 litres or less can now be filled or topped up using a hand-held hose fitted with a trigger nozzle, a watering can or a bucket.
Pools and spas of greater than 2000 litres capacity must not be filled unless a Water Conservation Plan has been submitted to your local water corporation and approved.
